Did you know?
Although today’s producers distil Petitgrain essential oil from the leaves and young twigs of the bitter orange tree, its name comes from the French words petit (small) and grain (grain or seed). Early perfumers first extracted the oil from the tree’s tiny, unripe fruits—its “little grains.” Later, improved distillation techniques allowed producers to capture the same beautiful aroma from the fragrant leaves and young twigs.
